8U/10U/12U/14U/16U/19U Referee Volunteer Guidelines
1. Each team will need 3 Certified Referee Volunteers for the season and names emailed to Vince Redmond, Regional Referee Administrator (RRA), by March 21, 2026.
2. Each team in U8 will be responsible to monitor and officiate their own games if another referee does not sign up for the game. Each home team will be responsible for officiating the game.
3. Each 10U/12U team will need to supply 1 Assistant Referee (AR) per game. 14U-19U will need to supply 2 AR's. These referees can be from your team or utilizing other referees in the region. Ask the RRA for support if any of your assignments are not signed up for.
4. After a minimum of one year of referee experience (see 'Regional Referee Training' tab), each referee will be eligible to become and Intermediate Referee and cross over their badge and experience to an USSF Level 8 badge (see 'How to Become an USSF/NOCRA Referee' tab). This means you will then be monetarily compensated for every game you officiate!!!
For EXTRA:
All the Extra Team games this year are assigned 1 USSF official by NOCRA (Referee) and will be responsible to provide 2 Assistant Referees (AR) per every home game. Referee & Volunteer Point System:
Spring 2026:
1. For the Spring Season U8-U19 teams are expected to provide team volunteers. Points will be awarded based on the system below.
2. Point System:
● 1 point (up to 5 points):
• For every certified referee that is active and submitted as part of the team volunteers in Matchtrak (www.matchtrak.com).
● 2 points:
• If all team games that are assigned are signed up for on Matchtrak before the 3rd weekend of games (March 21st). The coaches’ name must be chosen in MatchTrak as the team they are representing to get points.
● 1 point (up to the total amount of scheduled games):
• For Referee assignments completed on the field recorded by signing in at the Field Tent and are in Matchtrak (they can sign up in MatchTrak at game-time if they are not already in Matchtrak).
• Check in at the Field tent by completing a QR code to "sign in." The referee must be in full uniform to get credit (‘club linesman’ who are not in uniform do not get credit).
• For EXTRA and U14-U19 games, you are required to have 2 ARs per home game to acquire your 2 points per game.
● 4 points:
• For the completion of the team Field Marshal duties - 2 shifts required per team per assigned weekend (2 assigned weekends in Spring 2026).
Total points possible for any team is 19 points.
Each team is required to have a minimum of 14 points!

New Referees: In efforts to give more practice and experience for our new Regional Referees, each new 154 Regional Referee that goes through the 2025 AYSO Regional Referee training will be scheduled for 2 U8 games and 1 U10 game as the Referee (center). For U10, NOCRA referees (USSF) and the Region 154 Referee Mentors will still be present for mentoring and support! This is on top of their regular team requirements for weekly Assistant Referees (AR) or game coverage.
Each Referee will have their choice to sign up on Matchtrak to choose the games they want to do before the season starts. If they are not signed up by September 20th, they will be assigned by the RRA.
Intermediate Referee candidates will also be assigned 3 games as the Referee for U12 games after their completion of the Intermediate Referee Training course. If they have not signed up by September 21st, they will be assigned by the RRA. Any changes to these assignments must be done directly with the RRA in efforts to make sure all games are covered.
