2021 AYSO Return to Play Guidelines for Officials
return to play guidelines for officials 20201.pdf
Notes:
1. Teams will be on opposite sides of the field from one another. This way they can spread out along their own sidelines safely with their own team.
2. Only 2 spectators are allowed per player. Please work with the coaches if you see more. This is a hard rule and there are NO exceptions!
3. All officials need to have a mask on their person at all times in case close communication is needed with a player, coach and/or spectator.
4. ALL spectators and coaches must abide by all of the CDC guidelines for safety throughout the entire time they are on the fields. This includes, but is not limited to:
a. Masks must be worn properly at all times.
b. Must remain at least 6 feet from one another
c. No sharing of water bottles or other head/facial equipment

2020-2021 Sectional Rule for 12U
Heading and Punting the Ball= According to AYSO rules, there is no heading of a ball for 12U and below. However, the goalkeepers will be able to punt and drop kick the ball this year as a proper way to distribute the ball out of the back. Be sure to cover this with both teams during your pre-game talk with each team. Also, be vocal on the field if you see a player trying to play the ball with their head. Lastly, be aware that heading the ball is different than the ball hitting the head. If a player is hit in the head by a ball and they made no conscious attempt to play it, there is no infraction and play continues. Assess the player for possible head injury though as play continues. These are new rules for many, so we need to help them remember them throughout the game.
