It is designed to provide a more challenging level of play for those players who possess the appropriate interest, skills, and abilities to enhance their individual growth through the game of soccer.
Why AYSO EXTRA?
- Backed by a National Soccer Organization
- Extremely reduced player fees (when compared to standard club soccer)
- Playing time per game is guaranteed
About the Program
EXTRA is committed to developing a world-class competitive soccer program focused on providing a challenging environment and enhancing training for our dedicated soccer enthusiasts.
- Competition: In the Fall, EXTRA teams will play against other EXTRA teams within Section 11 in the Southern California Extra Development Soccer League (SCEDSL).
- Tryouts: All interested players attend a tryout in the Fall and/or Spring. Players are evaluated by an independent assessment team.
- Selection: Players chosen to participate will be notified shortly after tryouts. Players who are not chosen will be placed on a core team in the Fall season.

Player & Parent Commitment
Participation in the EXTRA program requires a higher level of commitment. The season requires a full-year commitment running from July 2026 through June 2027. Attendance at all team functions (practices, games, tournaments) is expected and critical to a successful season.
Strict Commitment Policy:
The EXTRA program demands more time and needs to be the player's primary sport commitment. Players in the EXTRA program cannot play in another competitive soccer program (i.e. Club) or Core.
