How to become an AYSO Regional Referee:
Step 1: Register as a Volunteer
Register on-line as a Volunteer with AYSO at www.AYSO154cypress.org
(All referees, must be registered as volunteers. Youth volunteers 10 – 17 will need a parent or guardian to complete the on-line volunteer process with them).
Step 2: Complete Safe Haven
All volunteers must complete the AYSO Safe Haven Course. Course is about 30 minutes in length.
Safe Haven is required child and volunteer protection training. This course may be found at www.aysou.org (under Online Courses). You will need your AYSO ID to register and blue sombrero username and password to enter AYSOU (this is the username and password you created at AYSO154cypress.org to register). This course is free.
Step 3: Complete Concussion and Cardiac Care Trainings
All volunteers must complete the AYSO concussion and cardiac care trainings. These trainings help our volunteers to know how to recognize possible concussion or cardiac issues and what to do if there is a chance a player is in need of medical assistance. These courses may be found at www.aysou.org (under Online Courses). You can sign up through your Sports Connect profile. Click the AYSOU button and it will take you to the training portal (etrainu). These courses are free.
Step 4: Complete Safe Sport Training (National Requirement)
All volunteers must complete the national Safe Sport training requirement (annual renewal required). This is a course that is dedicated to promote the overall safety of all of our athletes. This is a new national requirement for all US youth sports! This course can also be found under your AYSOU tab in your Sports Connect volunteer profile.
Step 5:Complete a Basic Regional Referee Class -(Online and/or Field)
In-Person Class
Visit www.ayso154cypress.org and click on the AYSOU link under your volunteer profile page to take the Regional Referee Training. This is a full day class. The online Regional Referee course work is not needed if you attend this full day class. It is all included!)
Steps:
1. Go to In-Person Courses
2. Select Regional Referee Course
3. Select date and location for your course (times of the course will be listed)
4. Secure your spot by hitting the blue Register button on the right. This will secure your spot on the date and location of your choosing
Online Course with the Field Companion Course:
First:
1. Visit www.ayso154cypress.org and click on the AYSOU link under your volunteer profile page to take the Basic Regional Referee Bundle Online Training. This is a 90-120 minutes course.
2. Select the Basic Regional Referee Online Training Bundle class under the Library tab at the side.
3. Complete the webinar
Second:
In addition to the Basic Regional Referee Online training, volunteers must complete one of the Field Training Basic Referee Online Companion Courses in person. This is the second half of your bundle. Please visit www.aysou.org to register.
1. Go to In-Person Courses in the library
2. Select Regional Referee Online Companion
3. Select date and location for your course (times of the course will be listed)
4. Secure your spot by hitting the blue Register button on the right. This will secure your spot on the date and location of your choosing
Only people who have completed Safe Haven, Concussion, Cardiac Care, Safe Sport and Basic Regional Referee Online Training, before the Field Training, can attend this course. Dates, times, and locations are listed below:

*You will need to pass a written test, achieving a score of 75% or better - this is easy.

*Go to aysou.org and Log-in (see above for instructions)
*On the “In-Person Courses” page, enter date you looking for. Then scroll down to see the courses in your area. Select the desired course (Basic Referee Course or Regional Referee Online Companion Courses) and then click on “Register”. You are eliglible to attend any of the Regional Referee trainings in your area. If you do take a course outside of Cypress, once completed, please email the Regional Referee Administrator for your equipment.
