Practice & Game Info

Ready for the match? Whether you're a Cypress regular or a visiting team, this is your complete playbook! Find everything you need for both practice and game days - including maps, schedules, and field rules. Tap a button below to get started.

Weather & Field Status

The amount of rain and its timing determines field closures for both practices and games. Here is how we handle cancellations due to inclement weather.

Practice Cancellations

For practices, we work with our partners at the City of Cypress Recreation and Community Services. They inspect the fields and will notify us when fields must be closed.

Notification Method: All notifications of practice field closures will be announced by the region to coaches via the Coaches Practice WhatsApp group chats. Your coach will then inform the team.

Game Day Cancellations

The process for game days is similar, with the addition of a public notification in MatchTrak.

Notification Methods:
  • WhatsApp Groups: Initial cancellation announcements will be made in the Coaches Practice WhatsApp group chats.
  • MatchTrak System: Games will be officially marked as "Cancelled" in MatchTrak. This action automatically:
    • Sends an email notification to coaches.
    • Updates the game status for anyone viewing the public schedule.
Assume We Play! Unless a specific determination has been made to cancel, all practices and games will be played as scheduled. Always assume your event is on unless you hear otherwise through the official channels.

Practice Rules & Maps

Player Drop-off & Pick-up

  • Players must not be left at the field without supervision by an AYSO Safe Haven certified adult (Coach, Asst. Coach, or Team Parent).
  • If your child's certified team adult has not yet arrived, you must wait with your child. Do not leave them unattended.
  • Please make direct contact with your Coach, Asst. Coach, or Team Parent when dropping off AND picking up your child.
  • Do not rely on your child to relay messages about pick-up; ensure a team adult knows the child is leaving with you.
Important Safety Protocol: A Coach, Asst. Coach, or Team Parent must wait with any player until a parent or responsible adult arrives for pick-up. The waiting adult must be of the same gender as the player. If a parent/guardian cannot be contacted after a reasonable time (approx. 1 hour), the volunteer's next step is to notify the local police department for assistance.

School Parking Policy

Warning: All school parking rules are strictly enforced. Violators may be ticketed or towed at the owner's expense.
  • NO PARKING is allowed in any school Day Care area, Monday – Friday.
  • Park in marked stalls ONLY.
  • Observe all posted signs. Do not park in red zones or designated loading/unloading zones.

School District Rules for Facility Use

All coaches, parents, players, and guests must abide by the following school district rules at all times. Remember, these fields are a KIDS ZONE.

  • NO DOGS ALLOWED on school fields at any time (service animals excepted).
  • NO SMOKING or ALCOHOL is permitted on any school property.
  • NO urinating or defecating on school property or in surrounding neighborhoods.
  • DO NOT use Day Care or school restrooms.
  • DO NOT disturb any on-campus resident live-ins.
  • DO park in designated areas only.
  • DO pick up and properly dispose of all trash after every practice.
  • DO respect the area and leave it better than you found it.

Field Setup & Takedown Procedures

☀️ Friday Night Field Setup

Assignment: Teams with the first game of the day (look for the "sun" icon on your schedule) are responsible for setup. Setup occurs from 5:00-6:30 PM on Friday at Lexington Junior High.

Each team must provide two volunteers. A Board Member will have the lockup open and necessary equipment staged for you.

🎨 HOME TEAM (All Divisions)

Task: Paint Fields

  • Touch-up the fields’ lines using the field painting equipment for clear markings.

🛠️ AWAY TEAM

Complete tasks at your assigned time:

  • U10 and up: Friday, 5:00-6:30pm.
  • U5/6 and U8: Saturday morning, before your game.

Your team's tasks are:

  • Position Goals: Carry the staged goals from behind the "Lockup" container and place them on the fields.
  • Set Corner Flags: Place all 6 corner flags in their designated positions.
  • Secure Goals: For safety, place two sandbags on the back frame of each goal.

⏰ End-of-Day Takedown

Assignment: Teams with the last game of the day (look for the "clock" icon on your schedule) are responsible for takedown. Takedown begins immediately following the last game.

  • Each team moves one goal, half the flags, sand bags and field signs. If you are playing a non-Cypress team, your team is responsible for moving all items to storage.
  • Store Equipment: Return goals intact (do not break them apart), sandbags, field signs, and flags to the designated storage area. A Board Member or Field Marshal will be present to help secure everything.
  • Leave Nets On: Please leave nets attached to the goals until the end of the season.
  • Clean Up: Both teams are responsible for cleaning up all trash around their field and dragging trash cans back to the storage area.

Field Marshal Duty

Our Field Marshal program is here to make game days safe, smooth, and fun for everyone! It’s staffed by trained volunteers from our own teams. Here’s a quick overview of what you need to know.

Program Coordinator: Jared Moye

For questions about the program, CLICK HERE to email Jared.

Download Full Program Details (PDF)

What's Required for My Team? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

  • Send 2 Volunteers to Training: Each team must send two representatives to one of the mandatory training sessions to get certified.
  • Sign Up for One Shift: Once trained, your volunteers will sign up for one ~2 hour shift during your division's assigned weekend.

How to Sign Up for Field Marshal Shifts

Field Marshal shifts are filled via a messaging sign-up process:

  1. A Board member will send a broadcast WhatsApp message to the WhatsApp practice groups containing a SurveyMonkey link the week of the upcoming weekend's games.
  2. Once all shifts are filled, a final confirmation email will be sent showing the complete assignment schedule for the upcoming weekend.

Please watch your WhatsApp messages for the Field Marshal sign-up link.

Heads Up! Volunteers who do not show for their assigned shift will miss earning valuable referee point(s) for their team. This can directly affect standings for Cypress Cup and the Playoffs. 🏆

What Does a Field Marshal Do? 🦸

  • Assist with volunteer and referee sign in at the tent.
  • Walk the fields during games and pick up trash as needed.
  • Look out for any potential issues including:
    • Parents or volunteers getting out of hand.
    • Parents, players, or guests breaking field rules.
    • Injuries requiring medical care.
    • Field issues.
📱 Emergency Contact: Call the Board Member on call if issues or emergencies arise needing board assistance. You will be given the name and phone number of the on-call board member for your weekend when you sign in.

General Field Rules & Respect

General Rules for All Events

Please respect school grounds and our community by following these rules at all times:

  • NO PETS: With the exception of certified service animals, pets are NOT allowed on school fields.
  • NO SMOKING OR ALCOHOL: Strictly prohibited on all school properties.
  • RESPECT THE EQUIPMENT: Do not hang or climb on soccer goals.
  • LEAVE IT BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT: Always pick up your trash.

Sideline Rules for Parents & Spectators

  • Parents sit on the same half of the sideline as their team. Home team sits on the west or north side of the field.
  • Chairs, tables, umbrellas, etc. must be set up at least 5 feet back from the touchline.
  • "Coaching" from the sidelines, behind goals, or on the player's side is not allowed.
  • ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY: No yelling at, arguing with, or showing dissent/abuse towards referees, especially our youth referees. They are children dedicating themselves to the game. Be nice!

Did You Know? The "Why" Behind Our 6-Goal Blow Out Rule

You might notice that in our games, a team won't run up the score on another. This is because we uphold the core AYSO principle of Good Sportsmanship by not going past a 6-goal differential. We ask players and coaches to work to prevent blow outs which can impair players from enjoying the game and developing as soccer players. Thank you for cheering on the good sportsmanship that this rule promotes!

Rules for Coaches

  • Coaches must stay within the technical area (approximately 8 yards on either side of the halfway line).

Field Diagram Coming Soon

A visual guide showing sideline placements for teams and spectators, plus the coach's technical area, will be posted here.
